U18 Women’s Championship 2022

Another youth women’s tournament was completed with success in the host city Dushanbe. Central Asian Football Association keeps providing platform showcasing youth football talents in the region. U18 Women’s Championship is the second women’s competition this year, which took place from 9 to 15 March. Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic, and Tajikistan national teams have participated in the round-robin event. At the end of the competitive tournament, Iran national team secured the regional title by winning on the third matchday against Kyrgyz republic.

The tournament plays an important role and aims to support the general popularisation of the Women’s game in the region and provide platform to prepare the teams of Central Asian member associations for the Continental competition AFC U20 Women’s Championship as well as showcasing their skills and talents through all CAFA media channels. CAFA contributes their regional football development initiatives which is further supporting the vision of FIFA making the game truly global and vision of AFC to making football the number one sport in the continent.   

Head coach of Kyrgyz republic, Gulbara Umatalieva: ” A very good tournament and it’s very good that we played here, this is one of those competitions where girls can prove themselves and see their mistakes and in the future there is something to work on. Of course, thanks to the organizers, thanks to all teams that participated in the competition as well. This is simply invaluable experience that our team has received. We are very pleased that we participated in this tournament and I think that my girls performed well”
