UNANIMOUS SUPPORT FROM CAFA FOR SHAIKH SALMAN AS AFC PRESIDENT

The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) today announced its unanimous support for AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa’s re-election at the 29th AFC Congress to be held in Kuala Lumpur on April 6, 2019.

CAFA, which represents six Central Asian Member Associations – Afghanistan, IR Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – endorsed Shaikh Salman Ebrahim Al Khalifa’s candidacy at the CAFA Congress held in Bishkek on Friday, 22 March 2019.

CAFA President Umid Akhmadjoonv, who chaired the CAFA Congress, said: “The Member Associations of CAFA have unanimously declared their support for Shaikh Salman to continue his outstanding work as the AFC President for the term 2019-2023.”

Shaikh Salman, elected AFC President in May 2013, announced at the AFC Executive Committee meeting held in Tashkent in September last year that he would run for re-election.
