The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) today announced its unanimous support for AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa’s re-election at the 29th AFC Congress to be held in Kuala Lumpur on April 6, 2019.
CAFA, which represents six Central Asian Member Associations — Afghanistan, IR Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — endorsed Shaikh Salman Ebrahim Al Khalifa’s candidacy at the CAFA Congress held in Bishkek on Friday, 22 March 2019.
CAFA President Umid Akhmadjoonv, who chaired the CAFA Congress, said: “The Member Associations of CAFA have unanimously declared their support for Shaikh Salman to continue his outstanding work as the AFC President for the term 2019-2023.”
Shaikh Salman, elected AFC President in May 2013, announced at the AFC Executive Committee meeting held in Tashkent in September last year that he would run for re-election.
