07 August 2025

07 August 2025 I As part of its continued commitment to the promotion and development of women’s football across the Central Asian region, and in recognition of the increasing global interest and participation in the women’s game, the Central Asian Football Association successfully organized the inaugural Women’s Football Development Seminar from 6 to 7 August 2025 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

The seminar was held in collaboration with the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 host association, Football Australia, and with the support of the Government of Australia. Participants from CAFA’s Member Associations took part in an active and engaging programme designed to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and strengthen regional cooperation in women’s football.

The programme featured a diverse range of activities, including presentations from Member Associations, group exercises, strategic planning sessions, and case studies. A special highlight was the interactive Q&A session with former Australian women’s national team player Gema Simon, providing valuable insights from her playing career and experience in elite women’s football. The seminar also benefitted from contributions and presentations by representatives of FIFA, FIFPRO, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), adding global and continental perspectives to the discussions.

Objectives of the Seminar:

  • Build capacity in women’s football across coaching, management, and player development
  • Share best practices in grassroots, youth, and elite women’s football
  • Promote gender equality and enhance female participation in football
  • Establish lasting partnerships between Football Australia, CAFA, and its Member Associations
  • Inspire cultural exchange and leadership development for women in football
  • Explore opportunities presented by the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 for participating Member Associations

This milestone initiative represents a significant step forward in advancing women’s football throughout Central Asia. By fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and creating new opportunities, CAFA aims to ensure sustainable growth and greater visibility for women’s football at every level.
