CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship ended in Dushanbe with the victory of Iran women’s national team

Bearing in mind the general aim of developing the game through football and futsal activities, CAFA with support from AFC and FIFA have started the journey of competitions in 2022. Capital city of Tajikistan hosted the first CAFA tournament this year and double round-robin format tournament will be remembered with plenty of goals total of 89.

As a results of the tournament, the Iranian women’s team won gold medals, achieving five victories and drawing only one match, gaining 16 points out of 18 possible. «Silver» went to the team of Uzbekistan (13 points), and the team of Kyrgyz Republic (4 points) — «bronze».

Vice-President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Dilshod Jurazoda and Secretary General of the Central Asian Football Association Ulugbek Karimov took part in the closing ceremony, awarding the winners and prize-winners of the CAFA-2022 Futsal Championship among women’s national teams.

As a result of the tournament, the “Fair Play” prize was awarded to the Iranian team, a special prize was awarded to the women’s team of Tajikistan. The best scorer of the competition was the player of the national team of Uzbekistan Maftuna Shoyimova with 9 scored goals. And the tournament MVP award was given to the leader of the Iranian national team Fareshteh Karimi, who was recognized as the best player in four out of six matches of her team.

Head coach of Kyrgyz Republic, Oleg Gevlenko: I want to express my gratitude to the CAFA administration to hold a very good tournament, which was great, and organised in high level. Such tournaments are important for the overall development of women’s futsal in our countries and regions. Speaking of our result in the tournament I would say that is natural, we did everything we could do.

Moreover, I want to thank the organizers, such tournaments give an impetus to the development of the game of futsal and thereby develops competitiveness in the region.
