CAFA U15 Championship 2022 trophy goes to Uzbekistan

THE YOUTH WOMEN’S TEAM OF UZBEKISTAN UNDER AGE OF 15 IS THE WINNER OF THE CAFA-2022 CHAMPIONSHIP.

In the current year of 2022, Tajikistan hosted the fourth women’s championship of the Central Asian Football Association. CAFA U15 Women’s Championship was the last competition organized by CAFA this year. The championship was conducted from 19 to 26 October in Hisor Stadium with participation of teams from IRAN, UZBEKISTAN and TAJIKISTAN. The tournament kicked off on 21 October with match between Uzbekistan and host team Tajikistan and finished on 25 October with final round. The 3 competing teams played in a round-robin format.

The general aim of the competition is foster the growth of women’s football in the region as well as preparation for the continental championship next year.

In the final round of the national team of Tajikistan in an equal competing spirit, lost to the team of I.R. Iran with a score of 0:1.

As a result of the tournament, the women’s youth teams of Uzbekistan and Iran reached four points each, but the Uzbekistan players were ahead of their Iranian counterparts due to the better goal difference. The team of Tajikistan took the third place.

Historically, previously the teams of Uzbekistan (2017, Gissar) and Iran (2019, Tashkent) became the winners of the CAFA championship among women’s youth teams under 15 years old.

The closing ceremony and awarding the winners and prize-winners of the CAFA-2022 championship was attended by the General Secretary of the Central Asian Football Association Mr. Ulugbek Karimov and the General Secretary of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Mr. Furkat Akhmedzhanov.

As a result of the tournament, the “Fair Play” prize was awarded to the national team of Tajikistan, and a special prize went to Iran. The best scorer of the tournament was Mehribon Egamberdiyeva, striker of the national team of Uzbekistan (4 goals). The captain of the national team of Uzbekistan Asalkhon Aminjonova was recognized as the most valued player in the tournament.
